🏛 1850s – The Beginning
Stock trading in India began around the 1850s in Mumbai (then Bombay). भारत में शेयर ट्रेडिंग की शुरुआत लगभग 1850 के दशक में मुंबई (तब बॉम्बे) में हुई।
A small group of brokers traded shares informally under a banyan tree near Town Hall. कुछ ब्रोकर टाउन हॉल के पास एक बरगद के पेड़ के नीचे अनौपचारिक रूप से शेयर ट्रेड किया करते थे।

🏢 1875 – Formation of BSE
In 1875 brokers formed the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE). 1875 में ब्रोकरों ने बॉम्बे स्टॉक एक्सचेंज (BSE) की स्थापना की।
📉 Pre-Independence Era
Before independence trading activity was limited and regulations were minimal. स्वतंत्रता से पहले ट्रेडिंग गतिविधि सीमित थी और नियम बहुत कम थे।

📜 1988 / 1992 – Formation of SEBI
The SEBI was established in 1988 and received statutory powers in 1992. सेबी की स्थापना 1988 में हुई और 1992 में इसे कानूनी शक्तियाँ मिलीं।

💻 1992 – Introduction of NSE
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) introduced electronic trading in India. एनएसई ने भारत में इलेक्ट्रॉनिक ट्रेडिंग शुरू की।

📲 Dematerialization Era
Earlier shares were issued in physical certificate form. पहले शेयर कागजी प्रमाणपत्र के रूप में जारी किए जाते थे।
With the introduction of Demat Accounts, shares began to be stored electronically. डिमैट अकाउंट आने के बाद शेयर इलेक्ट्रॉनिक रूप में रखे जाने लगे।
